MAC Apres Chic and Stereo Rose MSF returns!

Whilst I don't have press images and I'm not about to use another blogger's pics I wanted to alert you all to the MAC collection Apres Chic coming out on Dec 26th (24th online). A quick google search will show you pictures. OMG Stereo Rose Mineralize Skin Finish is back! The cult MSF that sells for waaay too much on Ebay..Yay! I already called my local MAC counter to have them pull one for me on the 26th..this well sell out fast. Reserve yours now if you want too..unless you're lighting fast online on the 24th.

december 2012 glossybox.

My glossybox finally arrived!! After the little snafu with missing products last month I was excited to see this one intact. Well..mostly. Glossybox, like must other subscriptions, includes an insert describing the products you've received. Well this month my products and the insert didn't match but I can't complain because I like what I actually got more vs. what I "should" have gotten.

milani lip flash in hot flash. review and swatches.

So if you can't tell by now I adore a pretty red lipstick and this Milani Lip Flash gloss pencil is no exception. In fact I love it so much I bought back-ups. Milani's website describes these as "The electric lip look is defined with highly pigmented flashy shimmer colors. Create news worthy lips with extra glossy, high color coverage and moisture rich ingredients. A sharpenable, easy to use, anti-feathering and nontacky lip gloss pencil."
I would agree..this pencil was moderately glossy, highly pigmented and smooth. And the wear time...don't know if it's because it's red or what but it stuck around for the long haul. The gloss wears of but it leaves behind a pigmented stain for hours. This pencil is awesome.

milani baked bluhes in dolce pink, red vino, luminoso and corallina. review and swatches.

So we reviewed the Milani baked blush in Rose d' Oro early and since I picked up more shades I thought I'd share the rest. These are gorgeous, crazy pigmented, budget friendly blushes. I'm a little obsessed to be perfectly honest. They aren't new but the good news is they aren't limited edition either. You can pick them up at most drugstores and at milanicosmetics.com. Let's move on to the photos and let them speak for themselves.

maybelline LE color plush quad in cozy cashmere. review and swatches.

Here is the second quad I picked up alongside Olive Martini at Walgreens. Again, the Maybelline Scene on the Runway display may be hard to find but these two quads are worth looking for.

maybelline LE color plush quad in olive martini. review and swatches.

So the other day I was killing time in Walgreens before work and seeing if any new LE collections had come out. Well of course not..it was nothing but cheap cologne sets lining the display aisles. Until I saw, tucked away in a corner, the Maybelline Fall 2012 Scene on the Runway LEcollection. Really?

Count me excited and annoyed. I spent way too much time hunting this collection down, looking from store to store and finding nothing. And now here it is, sitting unassuming on a bottom aisle, unloved. There was not one but two Olive Martini quads! Two! Also sitting untouched was a Cozy Cashmere.

I had seen this collection and ignored it of course until I saw swatches and then it was gone and I seriously had to own it. Ahh first world problems. Anyway I snagged two of each and an extra Olive Martini that will, I'm sure, need to be given away to you guys as it's gorgeous. On to the photos..

huge international haul.

Ok so I heard about the muastore.co.uk 40% off code(which is MUA40) and got super excited. I've seen reviews of MakeupAcademy online from mainly English blogs and this brand looks like Europe's better answer to Wet and Wild. Oooh I'm excited! I ordered a ton of stuff to try and recommend you check swatches and reviews online and get in on the sale.

Disclaimer: Picture from www.nouveaucheap.blogspot.com
The line is uber cheap and shipping is 7,50 euros..about 10 dollars which makes it worth it. Supposedly the MUA40 gives you 5 free crackle polishes with the order but those didn't show up on mine..instead I got a free eyeshadow palette. Umm yay! I hate crackles for the most part and adore eyeshadow so win win right. Below is a snapshot of my order so you can get an idea on prices.

Btw I've read that the Heaven on Earth and the Undressed palettes are dupes for Urban Decay's Naked palettes..I own both so as soon as this order comes I'll swatch comparisons for you.

Such a sad day...

One never expects tragedy but when it hits, it is always unbearable. I can't imagine what the families in Connecticut are going through but my heart goes out to them. Losing a loved one, especially a child, is probably the absolute worst moment in someone's life...there is nothing that I or anyone can say or do except pray for them and mourn their loss. I hope we can save the politicking and finger-pointing for at least a few days and give these families the respect and privacy they deserve.

lines of demarcation.

Have you ever gotten ready at home possibly trying out an awesome new foundation that an SA kindly gave you? Did you leave the house thinking you looked great? I did today...until I was getting out of my car to go to work. I flipped the visor down to check my lipstick and "Damnit! I look like an Oompa Loompa again!" Nothing I could do but furiously rub the line separating my chin from my neck and hope people would think I had a tan. Clearly, I need new bathroom lighting.

Besides being matched incorrectly I have to say I love Guerlain's Lingerie de Peau foundation.

Photo from www.guerlain.com
Guerlain's website describes it as "Lingerie de Peau is a foundation in such perfect osmosis with the skin that it glides on like an extremely fine silk stocking. As invisible to the eye as to the touch, it fuses with the skin like an imperceptible second skin. Impalpable and secret, this shapely, silken veil renders the complexion sublime without artifice."

I was matched to Beige Naturel 03 which is the second lightest shade I believe. This is surprising to find it too dark as my skin tone normally falls in the middle of shade ranges (I'm an NW25 for reference).  I found this foundation to have a great slip and despite more sheer, it covered my imperfections and redness flawlessly.
I buffed it in with a Real Technique's domed foundation brush and it set in fairly quickly leaving a luminous sheen. It didn't sink into any fine lines nor did it appear cakey. And it has SPF 20 which doesn't turn whitish on the skin. Honestly, I love it! I will post tonight when I get home with it's wear time and swatches.
Lingerie de Peau is $58.00 for 1 oz. on Dillards.com however Guerlain's website has a larger shade selection.

sephora collection blinged palette. review and swatches.

Another surprising budget pick pick from Sephora. Is it just me or is Sephora really improving their line? So the Blinged palette is an adorable collection of 8 neutral eye shadows, 5 glosses and cute pink blush all for 15 dollars. It's roughly the size of a credit card and stacked about an inch or so high. Top that off with some bling and it's awesome for travel.

milani baked blush in rose d' oro swatches and reviews.

What a pretty blush..this isn't new but it is a must have. I've heard this blush is a pretty close dupe to MAC's stereo rose but I can't tell you if it is..I missed out on stereo rose sadly. This however has become a go-to for me and you'll see why.

december birchbox.

Yay my Birchbox came today!! I love getting these in the mail..it makes my day. Birchbox is a beauty subscription that is 10 dollars a month and is supposedly tailored to your needs via a survey. I say supposedly because I do tend to get things that are basically the anti-thesis of my survey answers. Maybe that's a good thing though. I've been with Birchbox since June 2011 and honestly I can say the service has been very consistent...I consistently get crap boxes alternated with awesome ones. This month was awesome!

revlon really red matte lipstick. review and swatches.

What a gorgeous retro red! Although this isn't a new product I wanted to share it since I think it is one of the prettiest, truest reds I've seen and those are hard to find. I was a long time lover of MAC's Russian Red however it leans cool on me and on my warm skin tone it never looked quite perfect. Que Really Red..love it!

ipsy december bag.

Here is what I recieved from Ipsy for December. Ipsy is a monthly subscription that costs ten dollars and sends you 4-6 deluxe beauty samples and a cute makeup bag. When they first began they were called myGlam, however I was pretty unsatisfied with the service.

After a few months though, they renamed the business and everything seemed to pick up in terms of quality samples and full/deluxe samples. The company was started and owned, I believe, by Michelle Phan a youtube guru. In any case they started to send out more high end brands and seem to be focusing on creating a "look" with each bag..unlike Birchbox or it's other competitors. I think this is a fun idea so I will probably keep my subscription.

brand new blog.

Hello! So I finally started a blog..something I've always been interested in. It seemed intimidating but I decided to go for it.

Anyway a little about this space. I want this to a be space where we can all share ideas, thoughts, etc. It will be for the main part a beauty and product blog however nobody likes just one thing. I love all things art, music, food, fashion, etc.

So about me..
I'm 27 and from Texas. I'm a recent Army veteran and now work as a contractor. I adore cooking, working out, playing my upright bass and of course product hoarding. I've been obessesed with beauty for as long as I can remember and I hope I can share a little bit of that with all of you.
