december birchbox.

Yay my Birchbox came today!! I love getting these in the mail..it makes my day. Birchbox is a beauty subscription that is 10 dollars a month and is supposedly tailored to your needs via a survey. I say supposedly because I do tend to get things that are basically the anti-thesis of my survey answers. Maybe that's a good thing though. I've been with Birchbox since June 2011 and honestly I can say the service has been very consistent...I consistently get crap boxes alternated with awesome ones. This month was awesome!

What I recieved was the Juice Beauty CC cream in Warm glow, Amika Nourishing Mask, Juicy Couture perfume sample, Model Co Shine ultra lip gloss in Strip Tease, Emily's dark chocolate covered fortune cookies and a Rent the Runway gift card.
I don't mind food extras in these boxes but I were given the choice I would opt out. Same goes for the Rent the Runway giftcard. Do these people really think I'm going to spend the cost of a decent dress just to rent an even fancier dress? No. I'm not. I don't need designer dresses that I have to worry about ripping or staining and then having to pay full cost for. Moving on.

I LOVE this company. ModelCo pretty much rocks my world and this gloss is no exception. It's super shiny, has a delicious fruity smell that isn't overpowering and it wears well. It lasts about 2 hours on me and has a super smooth and moisturizing feel. Btw, did I mention the adorable mirror on the side..love that!
Now onto the next swatch..Juice Beauty CC cream.

This is what happened when I opened it..darn you Colorado altitude!!

Wow that's yellow! I have warm, olive skin but this scared me. On first glance it seemed creamy, emollient and pigmented. Ok..liking it so far..then the smell hit me. Wow this kinda reeks. It smells very, very herbal and medicinal. It dissapears quickly but come on..skincare should be a pleasure to use. So the real test..how did it look on?
Bare skin (except eye makeup of course).
After using the CC cream. Have to say it's not too bad..it's not going to cover major issues but it's better than most American BB creams. It concealed most of my redness however I felt that, upon application, it was a bit too slippery and just kinda slid around my cheeks. It was a bit annoying to blend and set in place.
Speaking of setting..this stayed pretty wet on my skin for a good few minutes. I don't like this if I need to swear something on, powder and go. It's undertones were too yellow/orange for me..but the texture was so nice I could almost forgive it.

Here it is finally set half an hour later..still uber shiny and transferable..I will have to update with wear time. I've had it one for five hours now and it's already faded from my nose and cheeks.

Haven't tried the other products yet but I will update when I do.
Have a great night!

  2. It was crazy orange but I've been mixing it with that post-peel foundation you gave me and I kinda like it:) (Thanks btw! and that cleanser is awesome!!) Yeah my last BB was terrible too...I was going to cancel until I got this box.
